BREWING giant Heineken is partnering local charities to provide Christmas lunches for socially isolated people in Edinburgh and West Lothian as part of a campaign entitled #BrewingGood Cheer.
Members of five local charities along with their volunteers will be treated to festive meals and entertainment at four pubs.
The campaign shows the pivotal role pubs play in nurturing community spirit and bringing people together.
Graham Smith from Royal Voluntary Service, who are involved in the lunch at the Riccarton Inn, Lanark Road, Currie, on Wednesday, 14 December, said: “Promoting social activities plays a big part in our work with older people. Our many lunch clubs and social groups, supported by volunteers, bring people together in varied and active ways, therefore, the #BrewingGood Cheer project aligns perfectly.
“Also our dedicated volunteers visit older people at home to provide companionship and support. We are really looking forward to co-hosting the Christmas lunch at the Riccarton Inn.”
The other lunches are on Thursday 15 December at the Fork and Field, Bank Street, Mid Calder, involving Craigshill Good Neighbour Network; Monday 19 December at The Cross Tavern, East Main Street, Whitburn, with Answer Project & The Mood Project and Wednesday 21 December at Tanners Lounge Bar, Lanark Road, Juniper Green, with the Pilton Equalities Project.
