Musselburgh Racecourse is having a great year. The five star visitor attraction celebrated its 200th anniversary earlier this summer with a visit from Her Majesty The Queen who watched her own horses race and then unveiled a plaque beside a specially commissioned sculpture.
The sculpture is based on the racecourse’s crown-inspired logo and was made by Haddington-based fabrication and welding company Had-Fab.
Following on from the success of last year, this year’s Caledonian Raceday is set to be bigger and better than ever before. There are a total of seven flat races including the £20,000 Caledonian Cup and two harness races, as well as live music, delicious street style food and the opportunity to soak up the vibrant atmosphere in the Scottish beer festival marquee.
Andy Mitchell, Marketing Manager at Caledonian Brewery said: “We are delighted to be teaming up with Musselburgh Racecourse once again. The raceday is always a fantastic experience with an enjoyable atmosphere – and what better way to kick-start the much loved race day than at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival!
“Caledonian Brewery is oldest working Brewery in Edinburgh and we work hard to ensure our products suit our customers’ needs so we are looking forward to hearing what race goers think of the array of beers on offer on the day.”
Courtesy buses will be available on the day from Wallyford and NewCraighall train stations for savvy revellers looking to take advantage of the convenient public transport services to Musselburgh.
Sarah continued: “The Caledonian Brewery Raceday is a popular event every year and it just keeps getting bigger and better. It features the Caledonian Beer Festival and what better way to enjoy some top quality racing than with the best beer in Edinburgh.
“We have had an outstanding year so far from world class jockeys racing, Her Majesty The Queen visiting and selling out once again for our annual Ladies Day event. We are extremely excited for the next few months and looking forward to welcoming racegoers through the doors for our remaining events of 2016.”
Musselburgh Racecourse is firmly established as one of the UK’s most stylish racecourses, hosting 28 flat and jumps meetings each year. Already popular with racing enthusiasts, it is a draw for both families and corporate clients.
Musselburgh Racecourse, which is currently in its 200th anniversary year, just celebrated a sell-out success at its recent Stobo Castle Ladies Day, followed by a high-profile visit from the Queen, who unveiled a new sculpture to mark the prestigious bicentenary.
