Hibs have confirmed that the club had reached their target of selling 10,000 season tickets for the 2016/17 campaign.
With the running total now at 10,051 this represents an increase of a third year on year, up from around 7,500 last season. Over 3,000 new and lapsed fans have bought into the ‘Life with Hibs’ campaign launched earlier this year with many more expected to sign up before the league kicks off in August.
Leeann Dempster, Chief Executive said: “We set the 10,000 target after we witnessed the scenes during the cup parade. Seeing the community come together to celebrate was wonderful and we want to bring more of them together every other week here at Easter Road.
“Season ticket numbers are up by a third, that’s an incredible increase and testimony to the superb Hibernian support who continue to rally round the Club. I want to say thank you to all of the fans for backing us in such a large number, both new and returning, and I also want to thank the staff at the Club for their efforts. It’s been a busy summer without much of a break and they too should be happy with the achievement.
“A special mention also needs to be given to Suzy Linn who runs the Leith Links initiative, which gathers donations from fans to purchase ‘Kicks for Kids’ season tickets for local children’s charities and organisations to use. Through the generous support of the fans, more than 200 tickets have been purchased, an unbelievable effort – Hibs class.
“With 10,000 now achieved, we aren’t going to rest on our laurels. This is our highest in ten years, and second highest in our history, second only to 2007/08 when the club managed to reach a total of around 11,200 for the start of that season. Can we reach that level? It will be a stretch but we want to be ambitious here to match the fans’ expectations and to do that we need a big support behind us every week. I’d urge all fans who have already signed up to rally their friends and families and bring them with us for year ahead.”
