From today until 29 April, there are road works on the south part of Park Avenue off Milton Road. This is to install a sewer in connection with the new Portobello High School and involves lane and parking restrictions. I am assured that local residents were advised weeks ago by letter from Balfour Beatty in late March/early April. I have a copy of that if anyone needs it.

Portobello Open Door (POD) AGM is on Wednesday 27 April at 7pm in The Wash House Community Centre 3 Adelphi Grove, EH EH15 1AP. POD organise the Village Show and film nights, but if you have any new ideas then they want to know….Zombie Apocalypse Weekend festival, Waterballon…athon (you get the idea) Do go along. They love new people. The AGM is not dull. Once the legal stuff is over, they quickly move on to the exciting stuff.

Community gardeners and people who use the outdoors in Craigmillar are having their third Get Together on Thursday 28 April from 11am-1pm at Greendykes organic allotments poly-tunnel at the end of Greendykes Road. Please bring anything you have to swap, seeds, tools and plants. Greendykes allotments are looking for trowels and other tools. Greendykes Nursery are looking for herbs to attract bees into the nursery garden. Brunstane Primary School parents group are looking for raffle prizes and to sell tickets for their fabulous disco fundraiser for a giant sand pit for their Nursery.
