One of the UK’s best days out is now even better with two new hangars at the National Museum of Flight that tell the stories of military and civil aviation over the past 100 years, opening Friday 25 March.

“We’ve invested £3.6 million restoring our Second World War hangars with captivating new experiences so you can feel the history and drama of flight as never before.

“From the defenders of our nations and jumping jets to supersonic passenger planes and airborne maternity wards, discover the stories behind one of Europe’s best collections of aircraft and find out more about the people who flew and worked with them.

Join us on Friday 25 March for our opening day celebrations!

Local and international artists will exhibit their work this weekend at the ‘Art in Granton’ exhibition at Madelvic House in Granton, Edinburgh on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 March.

The event hosted by Granton:Hub, with support from the EDI Group, North Neighbourhood Partnership and Edinburgh Council Lord Provost’s Rapid Action Fund, will showcase a variety of art works, many on the theme of Granton, Edinburgh and The Forth.

The exhibition will feature paintings, photography, installation and crafts with a special appearance from Scottish landscape artist, Kate Downie who will present a major piece at the event.

Granton:Hub have hosted a series of pop up events at Madelvic House, a building which is currently owned by EDI. Their future proposals for the building include a number of artists studios, café and a flexible space which could be used for events such as temporary exhibitions and workshops.

The exhibition comes hot on the heels of the recent National Gallaries of Scotland consultation event and their proposal to build an archive, conservation and research centre on land adjacent to Madelvic House.
