Following last week’s attacks in Paris when 129 people died, the Lord Provost the Rt Hon Donald Wilson has written to the Mayor of Paris, Mme Anne Hidalgo.
He wrote:
Dear Madame La Maire
I am writing to express my deep shock and sorrow at the horrific terrorist attacks on your city.
On behalf of the citizens of Edinburgh I send our heartfelt condolences to you, the families of those who have died and are injured, and the French people on the loss of innocent lives.
We offer you our sympathy and support – our thoughts are with you and all those affected. The flags flying above Edinburgh City Chambers have been lowered to half mast as a mark of respect for the victims and their families.
Yours sincerely
DONALD WILSON
