James Dashner, author of the well-loved Scorch Trials excited more than just the teenagers in Edinburgh’s Assembly Roxy last Friday. Celebrating the release of The Scorch Trials film, US author, James Dashner, made a rare visit to the UK for a one-off event in Edinburgh to meet fans of both the books and the film franchise. Psyched fans were also given the unique opportunity to participate in a Maze Runner quiz, displaying their abundant knowledge about the tale, which Dashner has so cleverly crafted.
Famed for writing The Maze Runner, which will capture the imagination of those that love The Hunger Gamers, Dashner is an American author, currently residing in the Rocky Mountains , who has written several series including The Scorch Trials. Following the film adaptation by Wes Ball, inevitably there were film tie-in reprints, and Dashner reminded us at the event that the books are now available in a widely accessible 44 different languages.
Ably hosted by online presenter for The X Factor, Luke Franks, the enthusiasm and energy of Dashner’s fans spilled into this fabulous building. We heard about his writing process and the adaptation of the book for the screen, following which an excitable and impatient mass exodus of Scorch Trials enthusiasts ran over to the signing table.
This was where they not only got to realise their aspirations of meeting Maze Runner author, but were also given a free movie poster.
There is still a chance for fans to win their name to be included in the next book, The Fever Code, by taking part in the #ScorchMaze game on Twitter.
