Black & Lizars Optometrist of the Year Jenna Green_Edinburgh July15

An Edinburgh-based optician with Black & Lizars, one of Scotland’s largest independently-owned optometrists, has won the Optometrist of the Year award at the company’s annual awards ceremony.

Jenna Green, who practises at Black & Lizars at 15/17 Main Street, Davidson’s Mains, Edinburgh, was given her award at a prestigious ceremony at the Crieff Hydro in the company of her colleagues and fellow opticians.

Jenna, 30 who has been with the firm for seven years, trained at Glasgow Caledonian University before embarking on her professional career.

She said: “I am delighted to have been awarded such a prestigious title. Black & Lizars is a wonderful company to work for and this award is the icing on the cake. I have just had a baby daughter, so 2015 has been quite a year for me.

“I would like to strive to embrace new technology to enable me to offer my patients the highest levels of clinical care, and I look forward to continuing to work with the terrific team in Davidson’s Mains.”

The award comes as Black & Lizars marks a year of significant growth with an increase in both sales and profits and a focus on further expansion, concentrating on children’s eye care, specialist clinics and hearing care.

The firm has invested heavily in the latest 3-D Optical Coherence Tomography eye scanners and it has the largest network in the UK of new Optomaps, the ultra-wide retinal scanners designed and built in Scotland by Optos.

One of the most continuously successful companies in Scotland, Black & Lizars, celebrates its 185th birthday this year.
