Castle Rock Edinvar Housing association is planning to build 157 new houses just north of 86 Longstone Road and the planning application has now been lodged with the council. You can see more details of the proposal to build houses for rent and purchase here.

The Friends of Meadows and Bruntsfield Links do good things to ensure that the greenspace there is protected as far as they are able to do anything about it. But we are nonetheless amazed that they have counted all the trees in the area! If you are interested in knowing what kind of trees there are then you can read the whole list here!

Tomorrow you can go for an easy guided walk around the boundary wall in Holyrood Park with a ranger. The time is about 3 hours from 12 noon.

And next week on 19 July you can join Mary Queen of Scots when there will be a celebration of her marriage to Darnley with an afternoon of revelry and fun in Holyrood Park from 12 noon till 4pm. There will be stalls offering Scottish produce from the menu below.

On 31 August at 9.30pm in Princes Street Gardens you will be able to see fireworks!

The Virgin Money Fireworks Concert brings Edinburgh’s summer festival season to a spectacular conclusion on Monday 31 August. In a celebration of dance, the concert sets stirring and delightful music with an outstanding and sparkling visual extravaganza. The breathtaking fireworks display is specially choreographed by international fireworks artists Pyrovision.
