The Halifax Big Lunch

The staff of the Halifax on Princes Street held a Big Lunch today to encourage a bit of community spirit. No, they did not set the tables out in the middle of Princes Street, but went out to Gorgie City Farm to hold a fun day there.

A spokesman for the Halifax said: “The Big Lunch, a lottery funded initiative from the Eden Project, is the perfect recipe for having fun with neighbours and helping to build stronger neighbourhoods. It encourages people across the UK to meet up for a few hours of food, friendship and fun. Millions of people across the country have taken part in Big Lunches and given extra in their communities – demonstrating that we’re better equipped to tackle the problems we face when we face them together.”

The Halifax Edinburgh Princes Street Branch  got together with Asda, who provided sandwiches.

Esther Clark, Branch Manager at Halifax Princes Street said: “There was lots of fun activities for all the family to raise money for charity. The Big Lunch provides a great opportunity for us to talk to people on a more personal level and really helps strengthen relationships in the community. Thank you to all who attended our Halifax Big Lunch and helped make it a success”.

David Nicholson, Group Director, Halifax Community Bank said: “As part of our Helping Britain Prosper Plan we are committed to being the banking group that brings communities closer together, to help them thrive. Halifax branches and colleagues have got involved and organised Big Lunches all around the country.”
