For the last two weeks of term Holy Rood RC High School has hosted an exhibition of photographs of the Syrian conflict taken by children and young people currently living in Damascus. This exhibition encompasses more than 70 photographs.

Joining these photographs are quotations from Holy Rood pupils expressing their opinions of the conflict and their thoughts on whether or not the UK should get involved with Syria.

The exhibition is being used as source material for S3 Modern Studies and they are also holding an evening closing event tonight, when they have invited Kenny MacAskill MSP and Tommy Sheppard to attend.

At the event the S3 pupils with the best essays will be presenting them, and it will be a chance to meet some of the people involved in getting the photos to the UK. The essays take the form of a letter to Tommy Sheppard MP asking him to persuade the UK Government to act.

Tommy Sheppard MP said : “I am delighted that students at Holyrood High are trying to get to grips with one of the most tragic and complex situations in world politics. I look forward to reading their letters and being able to talk to them about it when I visit after the holidays.”
