Edinburgh Airport’s Chief Executive Gordon Dewar was voted the Director of the Year at the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce awards on Monday night.

Gordon was up against some stiff competition from the likes of Edinburgh Trams, Bauer Media Academy and Law at Work, but triumphed for his unwavering commitment to Edinburgh Airport, its people and its passengers.

Last year was the airport’s busiest year ever in terms of passenger numbers, new business and investment and Gordon’s leadership, influence and expertise has continued to steer the airport to achieve unprecedented success, with long-haul passenger traffic up almost 90% last year.

Sir John Elvidge, Chairman of Edinburgh Airport, said: “This award is thoroughly well-deserved and we’re proud to have a Chief Executive that is so committed to his role and to the people he works with.

“From rolling up his sleeves in the check-in hall on one of our busiest days ever, to talking with passengers directly about their experience, the energy Gordon exudes is infectious. He continues to inspire us all to achieve success.

“Gordon is an expert in all areas of airport operations and has unrivalled experience of the aviation and wider transport industry. He is highly regarded as a leader in his field and this award is recognition of his hard work and dedication to Edinburgh Airport, our city and Scotland.”
