This weekend is the first of the RBS 6 Nations 2015 games at BT Murrayfield and Edinburgh Trams would like you to know that getting to the Scotland v Wales match is easy by tram.
Edinburgh Trams run a frequent service from the City Centre (for Waverley Station), Haymarket Station and Ingliston Park & Ride to the entrance of BT Murrayfield Stadium.
Tom Norris, Edinburgh Trams Director and General Manager said:
“We’re really excited about the prospect of running our first services for the 6 Nations. Additional trams will be put on for rugby fans to get to and from the game and there will also be extra staff available to help customers find their way and keep everything moving as smoothly as possible. We do expect to be exceptionally busy around match time and whilst we have a focus on those going to and from the game, we also want other passengers to be aware that services will be crowded. There may well be extended journey times during the build-up and after the game.”
To travel, tickets must be bought in advance of boarding from the ticket machines located at every tram stop or the Transport for Edinburgh app. For passengers travelling from the Murrayfield stop, the ticket machine is located at the foot of the stairs and not on the platform.
It is expected that trams will be extremely busy but there will be extra trams operating immediately prior to and after the game giving a service frequency of around 6 minutes. Passengers are advised to allow extra time for their journeys between 1330 – 1830.
Passengers can make journeys simpler by purchasing DAYtickets which allow unlimited travel on Edinburgh Trams (all stops excluding Edinburgh Airport) and Lothian Buses day services for one day.
