Cummings

Hibernian Development squad produced a magnificent 7-0 victory over Kilmarnock at Ainslie Pak last night which included hat tricks for Jason Cummings (pictured) and Martin Boyle.

Both strikers have been regulars in the first team but were dropped to the bench in Saturday’s 3-0 win over Dumbarton.

Although Head Coach Alan Stubbs’ decision to play Dominique Malonga and Franck Dja Djedje was vindicated as both scored in the win, the performance of Cummings and Boyle will give him a welcome headache for Saturday’s game against Alloa Athletic.

After the game, Head of Development Coaching Joe McBride told the club website: “I thought the first 15 minutes was a really strange game, it was played at a frantic pace. I don’t know if that was down to the cold and everybody was tearing about, but it was really frantic. It was in and out of possession for us, but the goal settled us down a bit.

“I still thought we could have moved the ball a bit better and kept possession a bit more, but with the two senior forwards up front we always looked dangerous when we got into the last third.”

“Boyle and Cummings scored six goal between the two of them, so they had a lot to do with the outcome of the game. Overall I thought we done okay tonight, but those two made a big difference.”

Members of the under-17 squad, Waugh and Jack Breen, both featured and the Development Coach was pleased with how both players performed in the game.

“It’s the other end of the spectrum with Breen and Waugh as they are two under-17s players and I think Jack is only 15 years old. It’s great for them to get experience like that. I thought Kevin looked assured when he came on and Jack showed some lovely touches.”

Jordan Sinclair scored the other goal.

Hibernian under-20s: Kleton Perntreou, Aaron Dunsmore, Callum Crane, Neil Martyniuk, Jordan McGregor (Kevin Waugh, 55), Aaron Scott, Scott Martin, Jordan Sinclair, Jason Cummings (Taylor Hendry, 60), Martin Boyle (Jack Breen, 60), Duthie. Unused substitutes: Alan Combe, Oliver Shaw
