Forsyth’s Sphere to be brought back
Valentine’s Day
Competition
At Morningside Gallery
Wester Hailes Employment Fair
The council decided earlier this week to do something about the sphere which has been missing from the top of the old RW Forsyth’s shop since Philip Green’s Arcadia Group bought it and turned it into Top Shop two years ago.
This is largely thanks to a public petition which the council clearly felt they could no longer ignore.
The breach of control on the A listed building will now be enforced and the council will use listed building and planning controls to ensure that the current owner either replaces the sphere or pays for its replacement.

Morningside Gallery tell us that their latest exhibition continues till next week
Our Small Paintings show has been a huge success and will continue in the gallery until February 18th, and thereafter on the website. Thank you for all your interest! This month we have new work from gallery favourites Stephen Mangan. Gary Morrow, Sandra Moffat, Andy Cross, Rosanne Barr and Fiona Millar, as well as introducing new artist, Penelope Anstice’s atmospheric landscapes. Later on, we’ll be injecting some spring colour into the gallery with a collection from Jennifer Mackenzie. Her bright palette and tactile brushwork offers a fresh take on the traditional floral still life. |
