International rules which prevent players from moving between different football associations have prevented Hull City manager Steve Bruce from recalling on loan goalkeeper Mark Oxley from Hibs.
At the weekend, Steve Harper was injured during City’s game against Arsenal and afterwards Bruce suggested that Oxley would return to the KC Stadium. The news caused panic amongst the Hibs fans as the only cover is goalkeeping coach Alan Combe and youngster Kleton Perntreou.
Oxley had been fourth choice at the start of the season, but now Hull only have Eldin Jakupovic available following an earlier injury to Edinburgh born Alan McGregor who has been side-lined with a shoulder problem.
The 24 year old keeper has been an ever present for Hibs since his loan move and actually became an internet sensation after scoring in his competitive debut against Livingston at Easter Road in the opening game of the Championship.
Meanwhile Jordon Forster will miss Sunday’s derby after suffering a broken foot. Alan Stubbs is hopeful that Liam Fontaine will be back in contention for the visit of League leaders Hearts.
