A bucket collection will be held before Hibs’ home game with Dumbarton on Saturday to raise funds for Leon Rendle.
Leon has a very rare form of Ewing’s sarcoma, a bone cancer which affects fewer than 30 children in the UK each year. Following surgery, chemotherapy and stem cell transplant, the 15 year old went into remission in October. However the disease returned in May, this time incurable.
Leon was a special guest of the club at a home game earlier this season, where he met manager Alan Stubbs and a number of Hibs’ players.
Now his Leith Academy classmates are raising funds at Easter Road on Saturday, with all monies given to Leon and his family to allow Leon to work through his bucket list.
A JustGiving page has also been set up, and supporters can contribute through the following link: https://www.justgiving.com/Leonrendle
A club spokesman said: “Leon has been an inspiration to the players, manager and everyone at Hibernian FC. Many supporters have already helped Leon and his family, and we would encourage all supporters to contribute if they can to this worthy cause.”
