Edinburgh Capitals on Lothian Buses

In an interesting marketing move, Edinburgh’s integrated transport company Transport for Edinburgh has teamed up with the Edinburgh Capitals ice hockey team, based at Murrayfield for the 2014/2015 season.

Edinburgh Capitals, which started in 1998, have a growing local support, developing youth programme and regularly attract 1000 people to their home games at Murrayfield Ice Rink.   They play in the UK’s Elite Ice Hockey League and compete in more than sixty games a season.

Transport for Edinburgh Chief Executive Ian Craig said:

“The Capitals are a great fit for a sporting partnership with Transport for Edinburgh.  They’re rapidly establishing themselves as part of sporting life in the city and from a transport point of view they’re based right between the Murrayfield tram stop and one of the busiest bus routes in Edinburgh.  I hope that many new supporters will join us as we get behind the Capitals.  It’s a great sport to watch and Murrayfield is really easy to get to by bus or by tram for some fantastic family entertainment.”

Edinburgh Capitals owner Scott Neil said:

“The Edinburgh Capitals are excited to develop this partnership with Transport for Edinburgh and believe it is a massive step forward for the club and the profile of the sport.  I would like to thank TFE for the opportunity to promote the sport to a wider audience and am delighted to provide discounted ticket opportunities on selected games to Ridacard holders.”

Throughout this season Transport for Edinburgh will be working with the Edinburgh Capitals to raise the profile of the sport locally and to give something extra to passengers.  As well as ticket giveaways and player appearances throughout the season, Transport for Edinburgh Ridacard holders will be offered discounts on games throughout the season.
