The Paradise Palms is located opposite Bristo Square perfectly located for the summer festival season and ideally placed for a night out on the town. The venue has been decked in in a 1920s Gatsby-esque theme and apparently has a few of the film items in the bar too. It’s part cabaret club, part diner, part dive bar according to the owners.  So whatever day of the week you are there you can be sure of something fun going on from stand up, spoken word and quiz nights to burlesque and secret gigs! The full programme will be live for August with a fair few cheeky shows on between now and then.

Their food menu features all-American diner food and traditional street style tacos with home made tortillas and fresh tasty fillings such as Thai crab cakes, which I am really looking forward to trying soon. I also believe that from August they will be serving breakfast tacos, waffles and Bloody Marys in the sunshine on their terrace!

We popped in briefly for the opening night for a beer and the place was packed with a fabulous ‘it’s the weekend’ friendly atmosphere. On stage we saw a brilliant magician and a band who played some great songs followed by a drag act which was hilarious. It was a really eclectic and fun mix and would be perfect for an evening out with some great food and drink.

Looking forward to coming back to the Palms soon to try the food and see some more fabulous stand up!

Open 7 days a week for lunch, dinner and drinks from noon-late
