Over 500 carnival performers were due to take part in the Carnival parade this afternoon which began at The Mound and paraded to West Princes Street.

The Edinburgh Reporter was right in the middle of it as Princes Street had been closed to all traffic with Edinburgh Trams services ending at Murrayfield and passengers being moved onto buses to complete their journeys. Lothian Buses were also subject to delays and disruption, but we saw a customer advice officer for Lothian Buses out on the streets looking after passengers who might have lost their way.

The parade featured music, dance, costumes, circus and fire performers, puppetry from all over the world from Junkanoo Commandos (Bahamas), Artscape’s Youth Band (South Africa), Hackney Colliery (U.K), Bandankadabra (Italy) , Belmont (Trinidad & Tobago), Barefeet (Zambia), Circo Paral Todos Colombia), KalentuRa (Netherlands), Karma Drums (Portugal), Youth in the Town (France), Bombrando (Portugal), Capliore (Japan), Country Boys (Trinidad & Tobago), XXL (Spain), Got Skills (Netherlands), Fantazztico (Costa Rica), Malay Dance group (Malasia), One love (Germany), Batala (France), Beltane Fire Society (Edinburgh) , Edinburgh Samba School, Chinese Dancers, Samba Ya Bamba (Glasgow), Pulse of the Place (Edinburgh), Anansi (Edinburgh), Hula Honeys, Edinburgh Performers, Stockbridge Pipe Band, and Rumba De Bodas (Italy).
