Macmillan Cancer Support is bowled over by the fundraising efforts of Fountain Park Entertainment Centre. Staff from the Edinburgh site, which encompasses companies such as X-Leisure Edinburgh, Securigroup, McCowans, Cineworld and Tenpin, have joined together to raise £5710.28 over the last two years.
They have taken part in several events including the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon, the Edinburgh Marathon Festival 10k and organised their own activities such as a golf challenge.
The Centre’s Marketing Manager, Julie Goulden, said “We wanted to do something challenging for this worthwhile charity and thankfully we all managed to complete it!
I would like to thank everyone who took part, for all the generous donations that we received that enabled us to beat our target of £3,000.”
Macmillan’s Edinburgh Fundraising Manager, Jayne Forbes, said “We are so grateful to staff at Fountain Park for supporting Macmillan in this way.
We rely almost entirely on donations, and without all the hard work from our charity partners, we wouldn’t be able to keep offering the fantastic services that so many people rely on.
The money raised will be used to fund Macmillan’s vital cancer services including specialist nurses, a nurse-run support line and financial advice and support for cancer patients.
Locally Macmillan provides specialist nurses and other medical professionals, a benefits advice service, grants and information and support services based in the Western General and at Wester Hailes.”
