Calistoga (2)

Gordon Minnis, owner of Calistoga restaurant, explains why you should try a taste of California this Christmas:-

Some people love traditional British Christmas food and why not?  But it’s also fun to try something different, to celebrate the festive season.

So, if you’d prefer to enjoy the great flavours of California for your festive treat, Calistoga is the place for you.

We have lots of delicious dishes to tempt you, including starters such as pork belly with chilli slaw; smoked mackerel and chive cream ‘sandwich’, or roast butternut and squash soup.

And while there is no turkey on the menu, we think you’ll be delighted with our selection of main courses.  Roast guinea fowl with morcilla and sweet potato; grilled salmon with potato salad and grape chutney, or red rice and polenta stack with tempura of broccoli and chestnuts are just a few of the unmissable dishes we’ll be serving up for Christmas.

There is no Christmas pudding on the menu either.  But we do offer a tangy blueberry cheesecake for dessert, or a sticky dark sponge with Bourbon cream.  Or you may be enticed by a silky milk chocolate mousse.

Calistoga is not just popular for tasty California-inspired food though.  We offer a selection of over 100 Californian wines and were shortlisted for two prestigious wine awards this year.  So, we can help you choose a wine that’s perfect for your meal.

We have a wide range of festive lunch and dinners to choose from, starting at only £17 for three courses, for our ‘quick’ Christmas lunch and we’d love to welcome you to Calistoga for your celebrations.  So, why not check out our menus at www.calistoga.co.uk/christmas-2013, or  give us a call on 0131 225 1233?
