An assault and robbery which took place on Friday night in Leith Walk has resulted in the 61 year-old victim sustaining injuries to his wrist and ribs.
Police in Edinburgh are appealing for witnesses to the incident which happened sometime between 11.30pm on Friday 4th and 1.30am on Saturday 5th October outside the Central Bar.
A 61-year-old man was walking past the pub when a male and female engaged him in conversation. The trio then walked in the same direction up a nearby side street as the man looked for a taxi home.
At this time the male threatened the man and demanded he hand over his possessions.
Following a struggle, the victim sustained fractures to his wrist and ribs and the suspects made off with his wallet and watch.
Officers are now conducting local enquiries to trace those responsible and anyone who can assist with their investigation is asked to come forward.
The male is described as white, balding and wearing a dark blue jacket, blue jeans and dark footwear. He was carrying a rucksack
The female is described as white with dark hair in a ponytail. She was wearing a blue-sleeved hooded top with grey hood, a purple body warmer, dark trousers and blue footwear The pair were also in possession of two pitbull type dogs.
Detective Constable Shiela Silvagni said:-“We are still trying to establish the exact time this incident occurred and are keen to hear from patrons of nearby pubs and restaurants, or local residents who remember seeing anything suspicious.
“Similarly, anyone with information that can help trace the suspects is also asked to contact police immediately.”
