Four males have been arrested and charged after police in Edinburgh responded to reports of the antisocial use of motorcycles in the Craigmillar area of the city on Thursday.
Police Scotland’s Air Support Unit assisted local Community Policing Officers following reports of bikes being driven at aggressive and excessive speeds in common ground between Greendykes Road and the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
Five motorcycles were subsequently recovered and are subject to further investigation.
Two males aged 28 and 16 appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today on Friday, while another 16-year-old and 41-year-old have been reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
Inspector Roddy Hardy said: “Driving inappropriately at such high speeds is not only dangerous for the rider, but puts other members of the public at risk.
“The issue of antisocial motorcycle riding is an on-going concern for many residents within our community and we are committed to utilising the resources at our disposal to tackle this matter.
“Anyone who wishes to report a crime of this nature can contact Police Scotland on 101 or make an anonymous report via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
