TER Looking Glass Books Bookshop App
Edinburgh has a great collection of bookshops and they can now be found all in one place with a free iPhone Bookshop App. Locals and visitors alike can feast their eyes on literary delights across the city – even possibly ones they’ve missed! Supported by an online trail on the City of Literature website, an overview of each bookshop with specialisms listed, opening times and contact details are all readily available. A What’s On feature provides up-to-date information for all literary events taking place across Edinburgh offering something for even the choosiest reader, from chain stores to independents, second-hand and charity shops to art and antiquarian bookshops.

The character of Edinburgh bookshops varies so incredibly with each shop offering something different. In addition to shelves upon shelves of books, each shop tells its own story of its role in the city. Transreal Fiction stocks a wide range of cuddly toys representative of sci-fi and fantasy and Edinburgh Books is ever under the watchful eye of Clarence, the stuffed water buffalo mascot.

The Edinburgh Reporter met up with Cat Clarke, a successful Edinburgh author and writer in residence at Looking Glass Books who helped us have a look at the app and showed us how easy it is to download and use!

The app and trail build on the incredible stories Edinburgh bookshops have to tell and celebrates the many and varied bookshops in the city today.

The Bookshop Trail app is available to download now for free from iTunes, under the name Edinburgh Bookshops Trail. The website trail is available now at www.cityofliterature.com
