National Performance Centre for Sport – Lord Provost’s blog – Edinburgh International Book Festival pick of the day – Edinburgh Festival Fringe pick of the day – Edinburgh Bookshops app
The council leader, Andrew Burns has issued his monthly newsletter, and has included within that a final appeal to anyone in Edinburgh to get behind the council’s bid for Edinburgh to be the new home for the National Performance Centre for Sport. The council team made their pitch at Hampden Park recently and the result should be made known by The Scottish Government next month. The plans would cost the council around £5m to fulfil but £25m of the cost would be paid for by the government. If you wish to do so then you can support the bid by clicking on the Go Edinburgh 2016 website.

The Lord Provost Donald Wilson also has a blog where he wrote most recently about the award given to Edinburgh recognising that the city is the hottest online business district in Scotland.

At the Edinburgh International Book Festival today there are still tickets for Mairi Hedderwick who wrote the wonderful Katie Morag stories (remember the sheep in curlers?) in a children’s event that starts at 10:00am. Again the most popular events are sold out such as BBC Business Editor Robert Peston at 6.30pm but there is always a chance of a return ticket.

Our pick of the day at the Fringe is probably anything you can get a ticket for at this stage, but we would recommend the easiest way to do that is to download the Fringe App which can find you a show near to where you are. It also allows you to buy the tickets online.
But at 10:20pm you could get along to Ballesque which our reviewer loved. All details of tickets and performances here.
