Edinburgh Airport gets its feet tapping to the jazz beat
Edinburgh Airport is getting musical as a sponsor of this year’s Jazz and Blues Festival which kicks off today in the capital.
To celebrate, Scotland’s busiest airport welcomed The California Honeydrops to the terminal this morning, delighting and entertaining passengers with a fantastic live set. The band, a free-spirited group from San Francisco, treated the thousands of passengers passing through to a soulful few hours, leaving everyone in an infectious feel-good mood.
Indeed, this year’s sponsorship of the Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival is just one part of Edinburgh Airport’s overarching commitment to supporting a wide range of cultural and community events in and around the capital.
In addition to being a major sponsor of the Royal Highland Show at Ingliston, the airport remains increasingly active in its local community, providing financial help to a number of deserving local causes, from bowling clubs to scout groups.
Gordon Dewar, Chief Executive of Edinburgh Airport, said: “As a big jazz fan, I am very excited that Edinburgh Airport is sponsoring this year’s Jazz and Blues Festival and hope that our passengers enjoyed the California Honeydrops who gave a taster of what’s on offer.
“Edinburgh Airport is committed to playing its part in and around the city, whether that’s sponsoring large cultural events like the Jazz and Blues Festival, or supporting local organisations and initiatives through our Community Board.”
Fiona Alexander, Producer of the Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be working with Edinburgh Airport this year.
“We hope to continue our great relationship and deliver a quality experience to our customers, in addition to showcasing Edinburgh as the best it can be.
“The Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival will host musicians from over 20 countries with many travelling to our beautiful capital city through Edinburgh Airport. We are confident this year’s festival will be a huge success and that Edinburgh Airport will play a huge role in helping us deliver a fantastic festival experience.”
