police scotland2Police in Edinburgh are appealing for witnesses to a theft that took place in the Seafield area of the city.

The incident happened sometime between 7.30pm on Sunday (28 July 2013) and 7am on Monday (29 July 2013) at the Seafield Recycling Centre in Fillyside Road.

A number of old car batteries were stolen from the facility when thieves cut a hole in a metal storage container before transporting the items initially in wheelie bins.

It is then thought that they removed the batteries from the site in a motor vehicle.

Constable Lyndsay Porteous said:- “This theft was a well-planned operation that we believe would have taken around couple of hours to execute and will have involved more than one person.

“Anyone who might have seen anything suspicious, or a vehicle or vehicles parked in the area between the hours indicated, is asked to
