Police in Edinburgh are appealing for witnesses following two break-ins and thefts from properties in the west of the city.
A 55 year-old woman left her home in Buckstone Crescent at around 8pm on Tuesday, and discovered the break-in there when she returned three hours later.
Various items of electrical equipment, including computers, a tablet device, and a mobile phone were taken along with a number of pieces of jewellery. The total value of the theft is around £2,500.
A similar incident occurred in Oxgangs Road between 12.30am and 11.55pm the same day.
The homeowners returned to find the property had been broken into and jewellery, a tablet device and other personal belongings worth over £2,000 were stolen.
Officers are conducting local enquiries into both of these crimes and are investigating whether they are linked.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “The residents at both addresses have been left understandably distressed after finding their homes had been entered and their possessions taken.
“Anyone who remembers seeing any suspicious activity in either Buckstone Crescent, or Oxgangs Road throughout Tuesday evening is asked to contact police immediately.
“Similarly, anyone with information that can assist in identifying those responsible for these incidents is also asked to come forward.”
Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101 or alternatively, the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
