Police are currently dealing with a volatile situation this evening at a chemist’s shop in Edinburgh’s High Street, following reports that a man and woman were brandishing knives within the shop.

Officers attended the scene and the street has been cordoned off at John Knox House as they try to bring the situation to a peaceful conclusion.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said:- “Police in Edinburgh are currently in attendance at business premises in the High Street where a male and female are causing a disturbance. They are believed to be in possession of bladed weapons and officers are in the process of getting them out of the building.”
