Scottish licensees will battle it out for national Best Bar None awards when Fred MacAulay hosts the third national Scottish Best Bar None awards on 3 March 2013 at the Sheraton Grand Hotel.
A total of 32 finalists, made up of licensed premises from across the country will compete. The shortlist has been chosen from over 300 Best Bar None accredited premises in Scotland and they represent venues that are striving to work with police and local councils to create a safer, more welcoming environment in towns and cities.
The national judging panel consisted of Mandy Haeburn-Little from the Scottish Business Crime Centre, (Miss Haeburn-Little is a name well known to Edinburgh as she was a former employee of tie) Katie Mackie from Molson Coors, Andrew Lawrence of Diageo GB, and Richard Norman of Strathclyde Fire & Rescue.
Judge Mandy Haeburn-Little, said:- “We were hugely impressed with the finalists. They really understand what Best Bar None is all about and the licensees and their teams are making a real difference to the safety of local communities.”
Ten new Scottish areas are expected to come on board during 2013 year with potentially dozens of licensed premises joining the scheme.
The Best Bar None scheme is aimed at promoting responsible management and operation of licensed premises in Scotland. It rewards safe and well-managed licensed venues with the issue of a certificate, plaque and the chance to go forward to the national awards ceremony.
