The family of a man who has been missing from his Edinburgh home for more than three weeks have made an appeal for information regarding his whereabouts.
Twenty-four-year-old Sanjay Dhital, who lives in Elm Row, has not been seen since Boxing Day (December 26 2012), and has not contacted his friends or family since then.
Sanjay, who is Nepalese, studies at Edinburgh College and is described as being 5ft 6ins tall, slim build with unkempt black hair and had a stubbly complexion when he was last seen – he may now have a full beard.
His family, who live in Kathmandu, Nepal are concerned for his safety, and are appealing for anyone with any information to get in touch.
His brother Sailesh Dhital (20 years) said: “We are all extremely worried about Sanjay as he is usually so good at staying in touch with us and its more than three weeks since we last heard from him in an online chat.
“We’re so proud of him and the hard work he puts into his studies in Edinburgh. He’s been there for two years now, and is in his final year; it’s not like him to miss his classes like this.
“We just want him to know that he’s not in any trouble, we just want to hear that he’s safe and well.
“Please Sanjay get in touch with us or the police – or any of his friends, if you know where he is, please put our minds at rest and let us know he’s safe.”
Inspector Kevin McLean, who is leading the inquiry, said: “It is very out of character for Sanjay to disappear and not contact his family or friends, so we are growing increasingly concerned for his safety.
“We’re scouring CCTV footage around his home address, and are carrying out inquiries to build up a picture of where he went and what he was doing in the days before his disappearance.
“We just want to make sure Sanjay is safe and well, so would ask anyone with any information about where he is to contact us on 0131 311 3131, or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
Anyone with any information should contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131, or the charity Crimestoppers in confidence and complete anonymity on 0800 555 111.
