Lothian and Borders Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted in the capital.

The incident happened around 8.45pm yesterday in Easter Road.

A 79-year-old man was walking home and had just passed the entrance to B&Q when three males approached him.

At this time the victim was punched to the body and then struck to the head several times before the males made off from the area.

The man suffered minor injuries to his face and was taken to the ERI for treatment.  Officers are now appealing for anyone who can assist with their enquiries to come forward.

The suspects are all described as white, and wearing dark clothing. Two were around 5ft 7ins tall, while the other was around 5ft tall.

A police spokesman said:- “This was an unprovoked assault on an elderly male, which resulted in him sustaining some painful injuries to his face.

“Anyone who was in or around Easter Road and witnessed the attack or who can help us identify those responsible is asked to contact police immediately.”

  1. Easter Road is a cesspit for the toothless, stoned, football lovin’ ned and his mates. It’s about time that the streetlamps were brighter – that there is at least some police on foot patrolling the area at the weekends especially.

Most of the barflies at the stinky pubs in the area are drunk by 5pm. The police are fast enough to send their forensics team round when the likes of Fred ‘the shred’ goodwin has his WINDOWS smashed – wasting taxpayers money – but you won’t even have bobbies on the beat in ned filled areas like Easter road and Great Junkie street. Do SOMETHING about this LBP or I swear vigiliante justice WILL prevail eventually!!!!
