A 43-year-old man has been arrested and charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act after a large quantity of Cannabis was recovered in the West of Edinburgh.

Officers from Border Force carried out an intelligence-led operation to intercept a parcel sent from India to an address in Wardlaw Place yesterday.

Upon arrival at the property, Border Force worked with Lothian and Borders Police, who carried out a full search and seized around 1.25kg of Cannabis resin, worth over £7,000.

The man is scheduled to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today.

Detective Inspector Gordon McCreadie said:- “This is another excellent example of partnership co-operation between two law enforcement agencies, which has resulted in a sizeable quantity of Cannabis being recovered before it could reach our communities.

“We will continue to work alongside our partners and the public to gather intelligence on those believed to be involved in drug crime.

“Anyone who would like to come forward with information relating to criminal activity in their area can contact their local policing team, or alternatively report the matter anonymously via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
