The Finance and Resources Committee of The City of Edinburgh Council meet on Tuesday 29 March 2011 at 10am at the City Chambers. You can access the agenda, minutes and all reports on the Council website here. There is a deputation request from PEDAL (described as “a Portobello-based community organisation. Formed in 2005, we are a company limited by guarantee. We are working to create a vibrant, sustainable Portobello which can help combat climate change and reduce fossil fuel use through a process of re-localisation”) as follows:-
As discussed, we would like to speak to the Finance Committee on item 21 on their agenda for Tuesday 21st – Disposal of Land and Buildings at Less Than Market Value.
My details are below, also attending will be Greig Robertson of Edinburgh Community Backgreens Association and possibly Ian Cooke of Development Trusts Association Scotland (I haven’t spoken with Ian yet).
Could you give an approx. time for our appearance, as we are doing this in a voluntary capacity. Many thanks, TomTom Black

There is also a request from the council for authority to sell The Scotsman building at Anchor Close to Mr & Mrs Mir, who would like to transform the premises into an apart-hotel, and have offered £1.35m for the property on an unconditional basis.
What is notable here, is that the Council’s costs relating to this transaction, which appear only to relate to separation of the services such as gas and electricity, amount to approximately £140,000. This figure is not substantiated in any way in the reports available as far as we can see.
