Do you feel inspired by the beauty of the Pentland Hills? If so, you should enter the biennial Pentland Inspirations Art and Photographic competition.
This is a competition aimed at encouraging visitors to the Pentland Hills Regional Park to capture the natural beauty of the area as either a painting, drawing or photograph.
The Pentland Hills have been a source of inspiration for many people over the centuries including Sir Walter Scott and Robert Louis Stevenson who used Pentland places and characters in their work. The Hills are still providing inspiration today, as shown by the success of the competition in 2008 with 21 paintings and 141 photographs entered. The Inspirational exhibition formed from the competition will tour for five months throughout Edinburgh, the Lothians, Borders and South Lanarkshire.
Everyone who enters will receive a voucher entitling them to 10% off up to three picture frames from Mount Parnassus Picture Framing at Mid Kinleith, Currie.
Prizes have been kindly donated by Cicerone Press who publish guides for walkers, trekkers, mountaineers, climbers and cyclists.
The entry needs to be an image taken within or of the Pentland Hills, either in the Pentland Hills Regional Park or the south Pentlands.
If you would like to enter then you can download an entry form and the rules from www.pentlandhills.org. The closing date for submitting an entry is 22 October 2010.
