The public have been invited to an information meeting about the proposed 200mw hyperscale data centre – which is the size of 33 football pitches – at Hermiston.
It is in the Gibson Craig Hall, 156 Lanark Road West, Currie at 7pm on Monday, August 17.
The organisers urged locals to attend if they are concerned about the impact on the community, not sure what a hyperscale data centre even looks like or want to learn more about how you can have your say.
It is entitled Our Air, Our Water, Our Greenbelt and a petition has been arranged to block the proposal for a piece of land west of Hermiston House Road and directly opposite Heriot-Watt University on the A 71 from Edinburgh towards Livingston.
The invitation said: “Get informed. Water impacts, electricity impacts, air quality.”
The Hermiston Data Centre Information Page group say: “We are not anti-progress, but we are against large-scale industrial developments being pushed through with full transparency on their real impacts.”
