Bait fishermen looking to cast a line at Bowden Springs near Linlithgow should think again as bosses have made a major decision.
This popular fishery is now fly only on the two-acre and five-acre ponds.
It’s a major switch by owner Jim Gargaro who made the decision after considering the move for some time.
He has just restocked both ponds and the fishery is also now completely catch and release.
Gargaro said: “The fishery is producing good sport currently with some good sized brown trout being hooked of up to 8lb.”
Meanwhile, nearby Linlithgow Loch report that 372 fish were caught in the last week with floating and midge tip lines the most effective.
Buzzer, muskin, cruncher, FAB, nymph and small dry flies have probed the most successful and Mr McAllister our with three friends kept three fish and returned 20.
Nigel Muckle and partner returned 20 trout while Mike Connick and partner lost count but through they landed up to 50 during their session.
