Dean Thompson holds a pollock weighing over 6lb caught during a six-hour sea fishing charter from Eyemouth.
The angler, understood to be an Edinburgh bus driver, was one of a party on Sagittarius skippered by Derek Anderson.
He said there were a few fish around during the trip and this was one of the best during a cold, wet day.
Thankfully, the sea was calm until around 2pm, but Anderson said: “Everyone had a great day.”
Meanwhile, onshore, Scotland international, Dave McAuley, is running a Tackle Guru-sponsored, three-day festival of course fishing at Tarbolton Fishery near Mauchline in May.
The dates are May 23, 24 and 25 and entry is £150 which includes entry into the pools and day tickets for the venue.
There are cash and tackle prizes for the top five overall plus top two and section payouts each day.
Anybody interested should message McAuley, who is a specialist product manager for Guru, for the bank details if they wish to book into the event.
There is a maximum entry of 25 anglers and all days will be open draws with fishing from 11am to 4pm.
