Hibs midfielder Jess Fitzgerald is “looking forward” to her first taste of Scottish Cup action against Dryburgh Athletic at Meadowbank Stadium this afternoon.

Hibs Women will host Barclays SWF Championship outfit Dryburgh Athletic.

Due to a few knocks picked up just before the window, only three players jetted off to represent their country during the international break – though has allowed for the squad to largely remain together heading into the festive period.

“It’s been a good week together,” Fitzgerald told HibsTV. “We had a few niggles, so it’s good to get some of the girls back out on the pitch and ticking over all the other girls out on the pitch.

“And big congratulations to Stacey as well, first international caps for Greece, so we’re all buzzing for her.”

Fitzgerald joined the Club in September from League of Ireland Premier Division club Peamount United – signing the same day as fellow Irish native, Scarlett Herron – and has quickly integrated into the First Team squad.

The number 8 has now reached 10 appearances for the Hibees, starting in four of her last seven appearances.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better club to come to, I think, in my opinion.

“All the girls have been so welcoming to me. I’m just so glad to get minutes and a few starts under my belt.”

Her fifth start could come against Dryburgh who make the trip from Dundee to Meadowbank – with Fitzgerald eager to get underway in the competition.

“I mean, any trophy is a big one. It’s a big reason why I came to this club. It’s a Club historic for winning trophies, so I’d say everyone’s buzzing to get under way.

“It’s massive. Any trophy we can win is a big deal to us. So, I’m looking forward to getting started on Sunday for this competition.

“I’m looking forward to hopefully getting a win and pushing on further in the competition.
