Boyle moved to Hibs in January 2015 from Dundee, initially as part of a loan exchange deal that involved Alex Harris moving in the other direction.
He signed on a full-time basis in June 2015, and was part of the legendary squad who lifted the Scottish Cup in 2016.
His nine goals in the following campaign played a significant part in Hibs returning to the Premiership, and his contribution was rewarded with two separate contract extensions.
Back-to-back knee injuries disrupted his progress, but he scored a memorable injury-time equaliser in a 2-2 draw with Livingston in October 2019 to mark a comeback that came ahead of schedule.
His return to full fitness and form was underlined by doubles against Aberdeen and Hearts, which earned him the Player of the Month award in December 2019.
A 29-minute first-half hat-trick against Rangers at Hampden Park – booking a League Cup Final appearance – was another highlight in November 2021.
The following January he moved to Saudi side Al-Faisaly, but talk of an emotional return to Easter Road was never far away, and it came to pass in August 2022 – he celebrated a day later with an equaliser for the Hibs on his second ‘debut’ in the Edinburgh Derby.
Boyle scored his 100th competitive goal for the Club in a 2-0 win over FK Partizan in August 2025, and signed a new one-year contract extension ahead of the last game of the 2025/26 season.
Currently vice-captain of the club, his contribution has been significant and will be rewarded with a series of events in the months ahead, allowing supporters to pay tribute to a modern-day cult hero.
Graeme Cadger, Chair of Martin’s Testimonial Committee, said: “Martin’s numbers for the Club speak for themselves, with 114 goals in 420 games – 63 of them as captain.
“He’s tenth on the all-time goalscorers’ list and was obviously part of a group who provided many of us with one of the best days of our lives at Hampden Park in 2016.
“But that only tells half of the story, and Martin grew up at the Club.
“He’s endured highs and lows, not least through some serious injuries.
“His resilience to bounce back from those has never been in doubt, and it says a lot about his character.
“As a Hibee, he became an Australian international.
“He became a Dad, and he married Rachael, who is obviously a Hibs legend in her own right.
“It’s been a pleasure to watch him develop in front of our eyes as a supporter, and it’s a privilege to be tasked with leading his Testimonial Committee.
“Martin has chosen the Hanlon Stevenson Foundation as his Official Charity Partner, and subsequently, a portion of the proceeds from his Testimonial Fund will go to good causes.
“We look forward to announcing various events over the course of the next few months.”
