Summer signing Marko Ivezić says Hibs mid-season training camp feels like a fresh start following a frustrating first month at the club.
After arriving at Easter Road from 2. Bundesliga side Holstein Kiel almost a month ago, Ivezić has been sidelined for most of the time through illness.
With Hibs William Hill Premiership return against Dundee United on 10 October edging closer, the defender says he is determined to make up for lost time under new manager Marink Reedijk, having taken part in his first full training sessions at our warm-weather base camp in La Manga this week.
He sat down with Hibs TV to discuss his first month as a Hibs player and how he’s looking forward to making his belated debut.
He said: “It has been nice [in La Manga].
“In these two days it has been harder training, but we are preparing well for the next part of the season, so it’s nice, and I feel very happy because I’m training normally with the team after last period so I’m very happy about it.
“I was ill, and then I started to progress about two weeks ago and to train harder, so now I’m ready to give my maximum and to be an option, of course.
“I think this [warm-weather training camp] is a perfect opportunity for all of us because it’s a new coach here, and it’s good because we are all together, and we don’t have a lot of time together like a normal pre-season, so this is perfect to understand the ideas of the new coach and to be ready for next week.
“You can already see that his idea of football, so it’s, I think, fit perfectly for us.”
The training camp in Murcia has also enabled Ivezić to build relationships with his teammates, and he insists he can’t wait to make his belated Hibs debut in the coming weeks.
He added: “Everyone has welcomed me good already, and I met them all last month, so I also had a period with them, but they are all very kind to me, so I’m very happy to have all of them.
“I’m really looking forward to playing for this Club and especially in our stadium later, so it’s very nice, and I can’t wait.
“I’ve already watched a few games, including two in our stadium, so I’m really excited to play and wear this jersey.
“For me this is the next step, and I really look forward to it, and I want to give my maximum here and to bring my experience, and to improve, of course, and I think this is a perfect step for me.”
