Head Coach Steve Clarke has named a settled squad as Scotland prepare for a pivotal double header against Greece and Belarus at Hampden Park early next month.
Hibs pair Grant Hanley and Kieron Bowie are both included along with Hearts’ goalkeeper Craig Gordon.
After a strong start to the campaign, which boasted four points from two away matches, Scotland are back on home soil, for what promises to be two raucous nights at the National Stadium, and it’s not too late for supporters to purchase tickets for the key qualifiers.
After a goalless draw in Copenhagen, Scotland defeated Belarus 2-0 to leave the Scots on four points, level with Denmark at the top of Group C.
Clarke has named a slimmed down 23-man squad for this home double header, with the most notable change coming in the goalkeeping ranks, where experienced goalkeeper Gordon – Scotland’s fourth-highest appearance maker – returns to the fold after recovering from injury.
Former Hearts defender Aaron Hickey impressed on his long overdue Scotland return earlier this month and he is back in as he continues to build up his minutes following recovery from series injury.
Anthony Ralston and Kieran Tierney were both forced to sit out the last camp through injury but both are back playing at club level and in the squad once again.
Vice-captain ‘Super’ John McGinn could move level with Darren Fletcher in fifth place in Scotland’s list of all-time leading cap holders as he looks to make his 80th appearance for his country against Greece.
