An Edinburgh shed is among three Scottish entries shortlisted for the national Shed of the Year title.

“Tom’s Shed”, owned by Thomas Chisholm in Edinburgh, has been nominated in the Simple But Effective category.

After reviewing hundreds of entries from across the country, judges have selected the 38 sheds that will now compete for category titles and the overall Shed of the Year award.

This year’s shortlist highlights the versatility of modern shed, with entrants serving as workshops, storage spaces, entertaining areas, creative studios or personal retreats.

The 2026 competition features 11 categories, including Eco Haven, Workshop/Studio, Most Colourful Shed, Garden Sanctuary, Cabin/Summerhouse and Regional Winners, reflecting the diversity and innovation of modern shed culture.

“The Stag’s Heid” in Ayr, South Ayrshire, and the “Tea Shack”, in Grantown-on-Spey, Highland, are the other Scottish nominees.

Andrew Wilcox, founder and head judge of shed of the year, said: “The creativity and passion we’ve seen in this year’s entries has been extraordinary. Even after 20 years of judging the competition, I’m continually amazed by the imagination, craftsmanship and personal stories behind every shed.

“What makes Shed of the Year so special is that no two entries are ever the same. Some are workshops, some are sanctuaries, some preserve local history, while others showcase incredible craftsmanship and ingenuity.
