Hibs head coach David Gray is monitoring the fitness of Grant Hanley ahead of this afternoon’s visit to Dingwall.

The centre-back came off last weekend against St Johnstone with a hip injury and will be assessed ahead of kick-off.

Elsewhere, Gray confirmed the Hibs will be without fellow defender Jordan Obita (calf), while new signing Marko Ivezić and Owen Elding could be involved against the Staggies.

He said: “[Grant] Hanley is really touch and go at this moment in time. He hasn’t really trained this week. He’s trying his best to get back, but it’s a bit of a race against time.

“He picked up a knock in his hip. He’s seen the physios, and it made him come off straight away. He’s taken a while to get over that, so we’ll give him every chance and see how long that takes.

“Unfortunately, added to that, Marko [Ivezić] is someone that trained at the start of the week but had a setback from illness, so he hasn’t trained after that. We’ll see how he goes and give him every chance as well.

“It certainly adds to the challenges. The one thing that’s positive is that Jack Iredale is back from suspension, so he’s available, which certainly helps in defensive areas.

“Added to that, Jordan Obita has picked up a calf issue in the Derby, which will keep him out until after the international break, for sure.

“That adds to our challenges defensively at this moment in time, but it is what it is, and we’re not going to sit and moan about it.

“We need to make sure there are no excuses here because we know exactly what’s at stake moving forward.

“In terms of players coming back, Owen Elding hasn’t trained properly this week as much as we’d have liked.

“We did push him yesterday, not with the group, but doing a lot of individual work. As long as he has no reaction, we might be able to involve him in some capacity at the weekend.

“It’s touch and go, but he’s had no reaction today, so it certainly adds a little bit of something.

“Clearly, we’re not going to take a risk with Owen at this point, but he’s keen to try and push forward with it. We’ll give that one every chance as well.

“Nicky Cadden having another week’s training certainly helps as well. He benefits from not having a midweek fixture.”
