Hibs wing back Chris Cadden admitted that the players are extremely disappointed after the narrow defeat to Rangers on Sunday but insists there are plenty of positives to take from the performance.
A Tom Lawrence’s strike the difference between the sides at Ibrox.
Despite creating plenty of chances – including winning a penalty – Hibs couldn’t find the back of the net and we left Glasgow empty-handed.
Speaking to Hibs TV after the match, Cadden shared his thoughts on both the result and the performance.
“We’re disappointed to lose the game, I thought we had the chances to go and win it in the end. But, there are a lot of positives to take from it – it is a good performance to go and build on for next week first and foremost.
“We’re not happy about losing the game, but there are a lot of positives to take from it, including some good individual performances in there too. We will take that all into next week.
“I am gutted, we had some big chances – Gayle went really close with the header and we had a penalty too. These are the chances that you need to take at Ibrox when they come. It comes down to a bit of luck as well, so it is unfortunate.’
Hibs put on a brave, spirited performance, matching Rangers physically throughout the 90 minutes and creating several chances across the game.
“The boys did a lot, we showed great work-rate, endeavour and effort out there,” Cadden continued.
“I have come here a lot of times as a Hibs player, and that was definitely one of the best performances that we have had since I have been here.
“The effort and desire that we showed is a minimum requirement, we know that, but it was good to be out there with boys and do that. I thought we were unlucky in the end.
“We are never happy about losing games of football, especially at a Club the size of Hibs. But the performance was good and we can build from this.”
