Anglers from the Lothians are involved in the two-day Home Nations sea fishing competition this week.

Mike Kyle from Easthouses, Buffy McAvoy and teenager Eryk Janik from Edinburgh plus Ian Campbell, retail manager of the Edinburgh Angling Centre in Granton, are included in the squad.

The men defend the gold medal they won in Wales 12 months ago and Campbell said that they will be a hard act to follow.

Beaches in and around Montrose and Tayside are being used and weather will have a big bearing on the outcome.

Mike Horn, president of the Scottish Federation of Sea Anglers, said opposition teams are bringing top anglers to Scotland and it will be tough to emulate last yearā€™s gold medal.

All of Scotlandā€™s teams, he added, had worked hard preparing for the event.

Scotlandā€™s captain is Chris Horn from Kirkcaldy, Mikeā€™s son, and also included are Dundee-based, David Cargill, and Bruce McLean from Stranraer. Montrose resident, James Duncan, who is a member of the East Fife club along with Chris Horn, Campbell and Cargill, is the team manager.
