Coach Craig McBride and a team from Hatton Sports Club are organising their own padel tennis marathon to raise funds in aid of Marie Curie, and everyone is invited.

The Padethon which is taking place at Hatton Sports Club, Kirknewton, all day on Saturday 3 August.

Activities on the day will include all day padel, tennis, pickleball, spikeball, a raffle, exhibition matches featuring some of Scotland’s top padel talent, a quiz, food and drink and more.

The centrepiece of the event is non-stop padel where everyone has the chance to sign up for a session. Last year play kept going for 18 hours and more than £6,000 was raised for Alzheimer Scotland. This year the team aim to beat both totals.

All the money raised from the Padethon will help Marie Curie Nurses to provide more free care to people with terminal illnesses in their own homes or at one of the charity’s hospices.

Craig McBride said: “We’d like to invite everyone to our Padethon to help raise funds in aid of Marie Curie.

“Marie Curie have helped out the families of a number of our members in the past so we are proud this year to raise money in appreciation of all they do. It’s going to be a fantastic event for all the family. Everyone is welcome to join in for a padel session regardless of experience. The world’s fastest growing sport is well worth trying.”
