To learn what is planned for the Edinburgh 900 celebrations Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh visited the City Chambers on Monday evening.
There they were met with banners bearing the new Edinburgh 900 logo just reported to the council last week. (Read the report below)
In the main Council Chamber tables were set up representing the ten themes of Edinburgh 900 and Their Royal Highnesses were given a short overview of each project. They were in the chamber for more than an hour chatting with people who hope to run events within each theme.
The programme aims to improve community pride by involving local people celebrating local heritage.
The council approved £500,000 for the programme as part of its budget set in February. A bid to National Lottery Heritage Fund for funding of £250,000 was unsuccessful.
