A dominant Celtic put four goals past David Marshall leaving him unable to lead his team to victory for the second game in a row.

Nick Montgomery’s men travelled to Celtic Park on Wednesday looking to continue their three game winning run, goal scorer against Aberdeen Dylan Vente was dropped to the bench as he was nursing a knock.

It was a nightmare start for the Edinburgh men, in just the fifth minute Cameron Carter-Vickers’ effort from a corner deflected off of Oh and past Marshall who could do nothing about it.

After the early goal Hibs did settle into the game but done little to trouble Celtic who dominated most of the ball and had all the chances.

Hibs didn’t look like a team on a three game win streak, appearing to lack a the belief and confidence to take opposition players on.

On the 36 minute O’Reilly doubled Celtic’s lead after getting on the end of a Luis Palma cross and nodding past Marshall.

Hibs’ first real chance chance came as a result of a brilliant Joe Newell ball over the top, Youan found himself one on one with Joe Hart but his effort went straight off the Celtic keeper for a corner.

A frantic Newell clearance off the line stopped Celtic’s advantage increasing to three and the final action of the half was a poor Hibs corner after Liam Scales blocked Jair Tavares’ effort.

Celtic were awarded a penalty early in the second period by Jon Beaton after a VAR check on Lewis Stevenson’s lunge, Luis Palma put it away to more or less put the game out of sight for Hibs.

Soon after, Celtic had a fourth after Will Fish was physically shrugged off the ball by Oh who finished into the corner of the net for his second of the evening.

Hibs did peg back a consolation in the 73rd minute, a good team move was finished off by Christian Doidge as he got on the end of Elie Youan’s flashed ball across goal.

The game ended at 4-1 and it was yet again another disappointing visit to the East End of Glasgow for Hibs as they continued their 13 year wait for a win at Celtic Park.

Hibs boss Nick Montgomery spoke during the week about using Leicester City’s unbelievable Premier League title win as motivation to close the gap on the old firm. However, tonight was a stark reminder of just how difficult it is to compete with a team littered with multi million pound signings away from home.

Next up for Hibs is another away trip, to face Livingston at the Tony Macaroni stadium.

The Leith side will look to get back to winning ways against a struggling Livingston side who find themselves bottom of the table.
